Frequently Asked Questions

IRC

If you'd like to be a member of #ActiveTrader please contact one of the operators of that channel i.e. Lospa, Scorp, thefed via the live chat.  They will add your nickname to the userlist of #ActiveTrader.

Some channels are "moderated" and the operators of that channel are responsible for giving peopel privledges to speak.  This is normally done to keep spammers out and people that can be disruptive.  I suggest askign one of the moderators (they will show with an @ in mIRC and in RED if using java) for permmsions to speak.

In the #ActiveTrader channel we keep it moderated during the day whcih means that only people who are members of the chat room can speak... we periodically enable people who can't throughout the day.

We do this because occassionally we will be attacked by flooders and spammers.

Yes!
Our servers are running IRC based protocols so that any IRC client can connect to our servers. You dont have to use the java on our site - but its the most simple. We suggest using mIRC if you are looking for a windows client to connect to our live chat servers.

Site Specific

The chat servers and the web site are running on different user databases.  Each room within the chat server maintains it's own user list - some rooms such as ActiveTrader are moderated. The moderation is due to the fact that a room with nearly 1000 people makes it a target for spammers and or malcontents that may use offensive language or offtopic posts.

It depends.  If you use a chat program like mIRC it's unlimted.  The JAVA applet also will allow you to connect to multiple chat rooms - just use the command /join #ROOMNAME
